In a thrilling showcase of talent, Norway’s Ingrid Laate secured a commanding victory in the women’s Individual Gundersen competition at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships 2025 in Lake Placid (USA).

Laate leads from the start

Competing on the MacKenzie Intervale HS100 hill, Laate soared to an impressive 94.5-meter jump—the longest of the day. Her exceptional effort earned her 119.4 points, giving her a significant 41-second advantage heading into the cross-country race.

Germany’s Ronja Loh followed with a jump of 88.5 meters, earning 109.2 points and securing second place. Meanwhile, Slovenia’s Teja Pavec (89m) and Germany’s Trine Goepfert (86m) tied for third place with 108.2 points, both starting 45 seconds behind Laate.

Start-to-Finish victory for Laate

Laate capitalized on her lead and delivered a dominant performance on the tracks, maintaining her advantage from start to finish. The 17-year-old Norwegian crossed the finish line unchallenged, securing the gold medal and solidifying her reputation as a rising star in the sport.

While Laate remained untouchable at the front, the battle for the remaining podium spots intensified. Pavec, showing great endurance and pace, managed to close the gap to Loh, who ultimately dropped to fifth place. The Slovenian’s strong skiing earned her the silver medal. Meanwhile, Germany’s Goepfert displayed remarkable consistency, holding her position from the Ski Jumping round and successfully fending off competitors to claim the bronze medal.

With this victory, Ingrid Laate has firmly established herself as one to watch in Nordic combined, marking an impressive milestone in her young career.
