Johannes Rydzek is in the winner of the men’s Individual Compact competition at the FIS Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix in Oberstdorf (GER).

In summerly temperatures the Thomas Rettenegger jumped the furthest distance of the day with 130 meters (141 pts) at the Schattenbergschanze HS137 and took the lead. Therefore, the Austrian was the first one to start into the 7.5 km roller ski race through the city afterwards.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Kristjan Ilves from Estonia, who landed at 125 meters (134.6 pts) and went into the course 6 seconds after Rettenegger, due to the fixed starting times.

Pascal Müller (126.5 mts, 131.8 pts) from Switzerland placed third, 12 seconds behind the leader.

The famous night race was nothing short of excitement due to the small time gaps.
Ilves caught up to Rettenegger already on the first lap, while David Mach (+12.1 sec), Pascal Müller (12.4 sec), Terence Weber (+12.7 sec) and Johannes Rydzek (+13.1 sec) formed the pursuer group.
After 3km they caught up to the leaders and Ilves took over the leading work, while Müller couldn’t follow the high speed anymore and fell back.

At the 6.8 km mark also Thomas Rettenegger couldn’t keep up with his competitors anymore, while Ilves, Rydzek and Weber, lead by Mach, went into the last lap together.
On the last uphill, Rydzek started an attack, that the other couldn’t follow and secured the victory in his hometown in front of the cheering spectators.

Ilves (+10.3 sec) took second place ahead of Mach (+13.8 sec) who placed third.
