Youth Cup: Record breaking opening in Tschagguns

The first FIS Youth Cup events of the 2024/25 season took place in Tschagguns (AUT) today.

 A record breaking total of 128 athletes from 13 nations competed in the Youth Cup I and II. The program includes one Individual Gundersen competitions for all categories on Friday and Saturday.

The first competitions took place today on the Montafoner Schanzenzentrum HS 66 and in the village on a 1.2 km cross-run course.

In the Boys I category, after the Ski Jumping part, Simon Grossegger from Austria was in the lead with 63 meters and 113.8 points.

Rank 2 was taken by German Hannes Mey with the best jump of the day on 63.5 meters and Maximilian Ferner from Austria (60 m), both with 102.9 points. They went into the 2.4 km cross-run 33 seconds after Grossegger.

The Austrian achieved a confident home victory, keeping his competitors at a safe distance.
He reached the finish line first, in 9:55.9 min, ahead of Leon Kristoffer Kjoellestad from Norway (+27.3 sec), who placed 6th after jumping and showed a strong catch-up race.
Third rank was taken by Marek Potancok (+33.1 sec) from Slovakia, who, together with the Norwegian, worked his way up to the podium, after being 7th on the hill.

The fastest race was shown by Till Messerschmidt from Germany with 9:19.6 min on rank 4.

In the Girls I category, Anna Brandner took the lead with the furthest jump of the day on 62.5 meters. The Austrian collected 109.1 points and was first to start into the 2.4 km run.

Rank 2 was taken by her team mate Amy Doegl with 58.5 meters (103.5 pts), who placed 17 sec behind Brandner.

Michele-Sophie Eller (62 m, 96.2 pts) from Germany placed third, 39 seconds behind the leader.

The German showed a strong run, caught up to Brandner and secured the victory ahead of her team mate Mareike Zuefle (+12 sec), who completed the double-win, after a fantastic catch-up race from 9th place after jumping.
Capucine Mesnil from France took third place, 21 seconds behind Eller.

In the Boys II category, Alvin Le from Norway secured the Ski Jumping victory with 65 meters. With a total score of 115.2, he went into the subsequent 3.4 km cross-run with a 4 second lead.

Hektor Kapustik from Slovakia took second place with the best jump of the day on 66.5 meters (114 pts).

Third place after Ski Jumping went to Mikolaj Wantulok from Poland with 61.5 meters (108.6 pts), 20 seconds behind Le.

In an exciting race, Le kept his competitors at a distance until the finish line, while Lovro Percl Serucnik came racing up from behind. The Slovenian, who was 14th after jumping, showed a fantastic run and finished second in the end, only 10.5 sec behind the Norwegian.
Polish Mikolaj Wantulok (+18.5 sec) defended his position from the jumping round, placing third.

In the Girls II competition, Marion Droz Vincent took the lead after the ski jumping part with the day's best distance of 60 meters. The French collected 102.5 points and started the 2.4 km run with an 4 second lead.

The Slovenian Tia Malovrh (59.5 m, 101.1 pts) took second place ahead of Karina Kozlova (58.5 m, 99.9 pts) from Ukraine, 8 seconds behind.

With an incredible catch-up race, Swiss Giulia Belz, worked her way up from rank 14 after jumping (+1:06min) all the way to the top, overtaking one competitor after another.
She confidently took the victory in the end, 8 seconds ahead of Masa Likozar Brankovic from Slovenia, who was on 5thplace after the Ski Jumping part.
Droz Vincent defended her podium spot and placed third, 12 seconds behind the winner, in the end.
