Combined takes center stage at FIS Para Alpine World Championships

The second day of action at the FIS Para Alpine World Ski Championships featured the Alpine Combined in Espot (ESP).

Italian Chiara Mazzel (Vision Impaired), Swede Eva Aarsjoe (Women Standing) and German Anna-Lenna Forster (Women Sitting) led the podiums in the female category

On the men’s side, the winners were Austrian Johannes Aigner (Vision Impaired), Frenchman Arthur Bauchet (Men Standing) and Norwegian Jesper Pedersen (Men Sitting).

The weather was a crisp 5- and featured blue bird skies for the two races. The day started in the morning with the super-G race on the Bosc 2 course and continued at 1:45 p.m. with the slalom on the Estadi course.

In the super-G, the female category vision impaired section was once again led by the Italian Chiara Mazzel, with a time of 58.54. In Women’s Standing, the leader after the speed race was Ebba Aarsjoe, also winner in yesterday's Super G race. In Women’s Sitting, German Anna-Lenna Forster led after the super-G, which she also won the gold medal for yesterday.

On the men’s side, the Vision Impaired class in the super-G was led by Austrian Johannes Aigner, with a time of 52:79. In the Men’s Standing class, Robin Cuche (SUI) led after the super-G, (54:18), while in Men’s Sitting the Norwegian Jesper Pedersen was the fastest speed man (54:40).

Chiara Mazzel continued to dominate in the afternoon slalom who has achieved a mark of 1:59:95. While also in the Women’s Sitting and Women’s Standing, the leaders stayed the same after the slalom race with Ebba Aarsjoe (1:00:85) and Anna-Lena Forster (59:55) earning the gold medals.

In the men's category, Johannes Aigner was proclaimed winner of the Vision Impaired class (51:45), while Frenchman Arthur Bauchet was first in the Men’s Standings (53:15) and Jesper Pedersen, took the gold in the Men Sitting class. (53:42).
