Mother Nature cut the FIS Para Alpine Ski World Cup action in half as four of the eight planned races last weekend in Steinach am Brenner (AUT) had to be cancelled due to tough weather conditions.

The good news is that four races could still be carried out with two super-G competitions on the schedule for the men and women.

On the men’s side, much like the opening weekend, it was the Johannes Aigner (AUT) and Arthur Bauchet (FRA) show. Aigner took both super-G victories in the Vision Impaired category, while Bauchet won the men’s Standing category. The men’s Sitting category also saw a double sweep with Norway’s Jesper Pedersen earning bragging rights both days.

At the end of both days of action, Bauchet came out on top of the overall race ranking.

In the women’s race it was also déjà vu on both race days as the podiums stayed the same in the super-G competitions. Chiara Mazzel (ITA) topped the Vision Impaired category, joining fellow victors Ebba Arrsjoe (SWE) Standing category and Anna-Lena Forster (GER) Sitting category on the top step of the podium. Mazzel was the fastest racer overall in both events.

The FIS Para Alpine Ski World Cup will take a brief holiday break before returning to action from January 10-14 in Vesonnaz (SUI) for eight races – two slaloms and six giant slaloms, in total four races each for the men and women.
