Althaus a class of her own

Katharina Althaus of Germany won the final competition of the Lillehammer-Triple on the large hill and secured the overall victory of the tournament in Norway. With the longest jumps in both rounds to 138,5 and 139,5 meters and 308,2 points Althaus won ahead of Maren Lundby and Sara Takanashi.

"Great start" for Althaus
Althaus said after her third World Cup victory: “It was a great start of the season with one second place and two victories. I jumped really well in Lillehammer. Today I posted longest jump in the competition and I am very satisfied with the performance. I like jumping on big hills. It's more fun.“

On second place local hero Maren Lundby took her third podium of the season with jumps to 130,0 and 139,0 meters and 284,3 points. The Norwegian said: „It was a great start of the season for me. I was hoping for a victory today, but Katharina was really strong. She deserved it. I am looking forward to next competitions. PyeongChang is the highlight of the season and I am working hard to be in the best possible shape.“

Takanashi back on the podium
Sara Takanashi took her first podium of the season after jumps to 137,0 and 136,0 meters and 275,8 points. The Japanese said: „I am happy with the results this weekend, but there is still a room for improvement. I need to adjust my technique. This was the first time I jumped on Lysgardsbakken and this hill is a bit difficult for me.“

Avvakumova best Russian
25,1 points behind Takanashi Russia´s Irina Avvakumova came in 4th, performing her best jump in the first round to 128,5 meters. Yuki Ito finished 5th with 249,4 points and stayed ahead of the two Germans Carina Vogt and Svenja Wuerth. Ursa Bogataj was best Slovenian on 8th place ahead of Italy´s Lara Malsiner and Lea Lemare of France. Ema Klinec and Nika Kriznar of Slovenia finished 11th and 12th ahead of Juliane Seyfarth, Lucile Morat and Manuela Malsiner.

Again points for China
Jaqueline Seifriedsberger was best Austrian on 16th place, Xinyue Chang scored again for China on 23th position ahead of Romania´s Daniela Haralambie. Julia Kykkaenen of Finland came in 27th. In the overall ranking of the Lillehammer Triple Katharina Althaus took the win with 842,1 points ahead of Maren Lundby with 823,1 and Sara Takanashi with 776,0 points. After three competitions, Althaus is also leading the overall World Cup.

The next competitions of the FIS World Cup Ladies Ski Jumping will be held in two weeks in Hinterzarten (GER).
