Althaus strikes back in Lillehammer

Germanys Katharina Althaus won the second competition of the Lillehammer-Triple in the FIS World Cup Ladies Ski Jumping. With jumps to 98,5 and 93,0 meters 271,7 points she staid ahead of Friday´s winner Maren Lundby of Norway and Japans Yuki Ito.

Althaus said: "I am very happy and overwhelmed with this victory. Ive made two good and long jumps. So far it is a really good weekend here in Lillehammer. I am looking forward to jump on the large hill tomorrow."

Maren Lundby jumped 98,5 and 92,5 meters and left out by 4,4 points on her second victory of the weekend.
The local hero said: "I am satisfied with the result and I hope the good results will help to develop womens Ski Jumping in Norway. Our sport is very popular in Japan for example but we dont get that much attention here. I wish, we had more spectators here in Lillehammer."

Ito on three far away
Behind the two first places there was a huge gap of 18,1 points to Yuki Ito on 3rd place. With jumps to 95,0 and 88,0 meters and 249,2 points Ito still delivered the first Japanese podium of the new season.
Ito said: "I am happy with my 3rd place. My take off was better in the first round but in general it was good today."

Only 1,0 points behind her, teammate Sara Takanashi came in 4th with efforts of 94,5 and 87,0 meters. Svenja Wuerth, with 235,1 points on 5th place, and Carina Vogt on 7th place the Germans showed another great team performance. Irina Avvakumova was again best Russian athlete coming in 6th,

Lara Malsiner strong again
Italy´s Lara Malsiner finished 8th ahead of the two Slovenians Spela Rogelj and Nika Kriznar. Best French lady was Lucile Morat on 11th place ahead of Juliane Seyfarth and Japan´s Yuka Seto. Ursa Bogataj and Gianina Ernst came in on a shared 14th rank. Chiara Hoelzl was best Austrian lady on 16th place, Daniela Haralambie scored on 24th position for Romania. Xinyue Chang scored World Cup points for the Chinese team on 26th place, Julia Kykkaenen came in 27th for Finland.

Final on Sunday
On Sunday the final of the Lillehammer-Triple will be held on the large hill with the best 30 athletes of the World Cup overall ranking. In the tournament ranking Maren Lundby is in the lead with 538,8 points ahead of Katharina Althaus with 533,9 points. The competition starts at 10.45 (CET).
