Another outstanding performance by Kamil Stoch

Kamil Stoch of Poland claimed the 28th World Cup win of his career on Tuesday in Lillehammer (NOR) with jumps of 140.5 m and 141 m (306.4 points). The three-time Olympic champion came in ahead of his teammate Dawid Kubacki (278.7 points) and local hero Robert Johansson (273.3 points).

For Stoch, who already won the 4-Hills-Tournament and Olympic gold on the large hill this winter, this was the seventh win in the World Cup this season. "It was really nice to jump here today because the conditions were good. Maybe it wasn't perfect because the speed of the wind was changing all the time and it was a little bit tricky. I'm satisfied with my result and I'm also happy for Dawid because yesterday was his birthday and this is a nice present for him", said Stoch.

For Kubacki, this second place is the best result of his career, so far two third places in Oberstdorf and Willingen earlier this season were the career-best for him. "I'm very happy because I was jumping really well today, unfortunately, Kamil was much better. I'm still happy even though I didn't win because my friend was on top of the podium and I came in second. I'm really happy with the result. I hope we have a fair competition in Trondheim, that's all we need", explained Kubacki.

The third place went to local hero Robert Johansson, who lives just a few hundred meters from the hill in Lillehammer. Johansson said after the competition: "I feel good right now, of course. These weren't my best jumps but I'm really happy to be on the podium in the World Cup for the first time this season, and that on my home hill. Now I'm looking forward to the next competitions."

Once again, the Norwegian showed a great team performance. Besides Johansson in third, Andreas Stjernen finished fourth, Johann Andre Forfang sixth, Daniel Andre Tande tenth, and Halvor Egner Granerud 12th.

The RAW AIR continues tomorrow with the qualification for Thursday's competition in Trondheim. The teams will take the 5-hour drive from Lillehammer to Trondheim on Wednesday morning. The training there will be held on 3:30 pm CET, followed by the qualification at 5:30 pm CET. The competition in Trondheim takes place on Thursday at 5 pm CET.

In the overall ranking of the RAW AIR, Kamil Stoch could further extend his lead with his clear win today. Stoch now leads with 1141.5 points, followed by Robert Johansson (1085.3 points) and Johann Andre Forfang (1055.5 points).

In the overall World Cup, Stoch leads with 1103 points ahead of Richard Freitag (913 points) and Daniel Andre Tande (849 points).
