Anze Lanisek surprises with quali-win

Anze Lanisek of Slovenia won the qualification for the Grand Prix in Courchevel (FRA). With a jump of 134.5 m (115.2 points), he came in ahead of Poland's Dawid Kubacki (129 m; 110.9 points) and Italian Sebastian Colloredo (130 m; 110.3 points).

"I was already jumping well in Wisla at the beginning of the summer, but unfortunately it didn't go that well in the competition there. Now I hope that I'll do better this evening", Lanisek explained after his strong jump in the qualification. Dawid Kubacki presented himself as strong as usual and is the favorite for the competition tonight at 6:30 pm CET.

Behind the best Norwegian, Robert Johansson, in fourth and Stefan Hula (POL) in fifth, Russia's Denis Kornilov achieved a strong result in sixth. "Over the last couple of weeks I could improve my technique and the flight phase, this benefits me here", Kornilov said after the qualification. Best Austrian was Stefan Kraft in eighth.

Like on Friday, the wind conditions were again difficult in Courchevel. "There was almost no wind towards the end of the round and so it was really tough", explained Stephan Leyhe, tied for tenth with Norway's Kenneth Gangnes and was the best German.

For the two young Germans Moritz Baer and Felix Hoffmann the qualification didn't go as well as they wished, both failed to make the cut. Surprisingly, Paul Brasme of France and Austria's Andreas Kofler were also among those who failed to make the cut for the competition.
