After the trip to Iron Mountain in the USA last week, the Continental Cup has returned to Europe again. The next two competitions are held this weekend in Rena (NOR).

The first competition on Saturday afternoon turned into a duel between the two strong teams of Austria and Slovenia, with one German ski jumper in the middle of it.

Austria's Clemens Aigner secured the win on the HS 139 large hill. He laid the foundation for this success already with the longest jump of the day on 141.5 m in the first round. The 24-year-old Tyrolean then defended his lead with another strong jump of 137 m in the final and a total of 283.9 points.

The second and third place went to ski jumpers from Slovenia. Bor Pavlovcic came in second with jumps of 138.5 m and 131 m and 272.6 points, closely followed by his teammate Tilen Bartol, who scored 270.5 points with 136.5 m and 134.5 m.

Felix Hoffmann of Germany, who was only 13th after the first round with 133.5 m, had the longest jump in the final round with 139 m and moved up to fourth overall. With this performance he was the only athlete in the Top 10 today who's not from Austria or Slovenia.

Slovenia's Cene Prevc, recently 43rd in the normal hill competition at the World Championships in Lahti, finished fifth here, Florian Altenburger of Austria came in sixth. The seventh place went to Jaka Hvala, who was second behind Clemens Aigner after the first half of the competition.

Daniel Huber of Austria was eighth, followed by his teammate Maximilian Steiner and Rok Tarman, the fifth-best Slovene this afternoon, who tied for ninth. Behind Germany's Constantin Schmid (11th), Halvor Egner Granerud finished 12th and was the best Norwegian athlete in front of the home crowd.

Nejc Dezman of Slovenia, who is not competing in Rena, still leads the overall ranking of the COC with 862 points, ahead of Miran Zupancic (847 points) and Clemens Aigner (731 points).
