COC-L: Barantceva and Iakovleva secure 1-2 finish for Russia
Aug 31, 2018·Ski JumpingThe Russian team was again unbeatable in the second competition of the first Ladies Continental Cup winter this winter. After four Russians finished on top in Friday's event, they took a 1-2 finish on Saturday.
This time the win went to Aleksandra Barantceva, who closely missed the podium in fourth the day before. The only 15-year-old took her first victory in the COC with jumps of 91 m and 92.5 m and 227.5 points. "It's my first time here in Notodden. Yesterday didn't go as well as expected, but today I corrected all the mistakes and so I could win", said the Russian.
After her win on Friday, jumps of 92.5 m and 90 m and 226.5 points were enough to finish second for Lidiia Iakovleva today.
Marita Kramer of Austria, sixth in the first competition in Notodden, came in third with 90 m and 93 m (225.0 points) and achieved her first podium result in the Continental Cup. "I'm very satisfied with the third place today. The hill was perfectly prepared and I could land two good jumps", said Marita Kramer.
With 93.5 m, Mariia Iakovleva was in the lead ahead of her younger sister Lidiia after the first round, at the end she finished fourth with a final jump of 87.5 m.
Guylim Park of Korea further improved her performance from Friday and came among the best again in fifth. Anna Shpyneva completed the next great result for the Russian team in sixth. Magdalena Palasz was eighth and represented Poland in the today's Top 10, she was followed by Lisa Eder of Austria and Czech Stepanka Ptackova.
After the first two competitions this season, Lidiia Iakovleva leads the overall ranking with 180 points, ahead of her teammates Aleksandra Barantceva (150 points) and Mariia Iakovleva (130 points).
The next competitions will be held in Planica (SLO) on January 20th and 21st.
