COC-L: Daniela Iraschko-Stolz unbeatable

She just returned from the Olympic Winter Games and now Daniela Iraschko-Stolz is already competing again in the Continental Cup in Brotterode and she took a clear win there.

The Austrian, who finished sixth in PyeongChang earlier this week, showed the by far longest jumps in both rounds on Friday afternoon with 112.5 m and 115 m and won with 257.6 points. The 34-year-old was the best in all three COC competitions she took part in this season. "It was a great event with many spectators and I'm happy that I made the effort to come here straight from the Olympics", said Daniela Iraschko-Stolz.

More than 30 points behind the winner, the second place went to young Slovene Jerneja Brecl, who jumped on 105 m and 106 m and scored a total of 224.9 points.

Lidiia Iakovleva of Russia took the third place with 97 m and 104 m and 213.9 points. The 16-year-old was the best athlete of the strong Russian team, for which two more ski jumpers could achieve very good results with Anna Shpyneva in sixth and Aleksandra Barantceva in eighth.

Julia Clair of France finished fourth, followed by the best German, Pauline Hessler, in fifth. Besides Hessler, Ulrike Graessler, Anna Rupprecht, and Luisa Goerlich provided a strong result for the German Ski Association in seventh, ninth and eleventh.

The Top 10 were completed by Austria's Eva Pinkelnig, who came in tenth.

After five of the six competitions this season, Aleksandra Barantceva leads the overall ranking of the Continental Cup with 342 points, followed by Lidiia Iakovleva (335 points) and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (300 points).
