Daniela Iraschko-Stolz made a successful comeback at the Ladies' Continental Cup in Planica (SLO).

The 34-year-old Austrian, who could not take part in any competitions so far this season due to two knee surgeries in the past year, won the first competition on the HS 102 with jumps of 96 m and 97 m and 235.0 points. "Of course I'm satisfied with today's victory. It's not so easy to jump after a one year break. I'm happy to be back. My main goal now is PyeongChang, I don't have anything to lose. Maybe I can surprise there", said Daniela Iraschko-Stolz.

Clearly behind the winner, Russia's Aleksandra Barantceva came in second with 92.5 m and 92 m and 214.5 points. "I'm very excited about my second place here, this is really a nice result for me. I like Planica a lot", said the young Russian.

In front of her home crowd, local hero Jerneja Brecl could achieve the first podium finish of her career in only her third appearance in the COC. "I'm very happy. My jumps were not perfect, but tomorrow we have another competition and maybe then I can show even more."

Lidia Iakovleva of Russia was fourth, followed by the best German, Agnes Reisch, in fifth. With Anna Shpyneva and Mariia Iakovleva on the places seven and ten, four athletes of the Russian team finished in the Top 10 of today's competition.

Katra Komar of Slovenia tied for seventh with Shpyneva, Austria's Marita Kramer came in ninth.

The two Russians Lidiia Iakovleva and Aleksandra Barantceva lead the overall ranking of the Continental Cup with 230 points, their teammate Mariia Iakovleva follows in third with 156 points.
