COC: First win this season for Clemens Aigner

After Friday's event was held on the normal hill, the second Continental Cup competition in Sapporo now took place on the Okurayama large hill. There Austria's Clemens Aigner was the best on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Tyrolean could show the longest jumps in both rounds with 133.5 m and 140 m and his total of 238.4 points earned him his third win in the COC, the last time he stood on top of the podium was in December 2015 in Engelberg. "I had two good jumps and I was also lucky to get good wind. The jury did a great job under these difficult conditions," said Aigner.

Once again Slovenia's Anze Lanisek came in among the best. With 133 m and 138.5 m and 231.8 points he finished second and achieved his fourth podium  result in a row. "My jumps were pretty good, I just had a small mistake. I'm satisfied," said the Slovene.

Aleksander Zniszczol of Poland, with 126 m fifth after the first round, had the second-best jump in the final round with 137.5 m and with this performance he was able to move up to third. "I like the large hill here. My jumps were okay and I had good wind conditions, so I could get a good result," said the third-placed Pole.

After his second place the day before, Andreas Wank closely missed the podium this time. The best German came in fourth, 2.9 points behind Zniszczol. Behind him, Rok Tarman provided a surprise. The Slovene, who is participating in his first COC's this weekend and was 20th on Friday, achieved a top result in fifth.

The sixth place went to Klemens Muranka of Poland, followed by the best Japanese, Junshiro Kobayashi, and Philipp Aschenwald. The Austria was second after the first round behind his teammate Clemens Aigner, but with only 118 m in the final round he could not defend this position and came in eighth overall.

With the ninth place today, 19-year-old German Julian Hahn achieved the by far best result of his career in this competition series, the Top 10 were completed by Austria's Stefan Huber.

Miran Zupancic, the winner of Friday's competition, was disqualified in the second round because his suit did not meet the rules, but with 424 points he remains in the lead of the overall ranking. Florian Altenburger (369 points) and Daniel Huber (356 points) follow in second and third.
