COC-M: First win this season for Stefan Huber

Stefan Huber of Austria won the first competition on the final weekend of this Continental Cup season in Chaikovsky (RUS).

The 24-year-old from Salzburg laid the foundation for his second win in the COC with the longest jump of the day of 141.5 m in the first round. He the final he then defended his lead with 132.5 m and 271.0 points.

In changing wind conditions on the HS 140 on Saturday afternoon, the second place went to Constantin Schmid of Germany, who jumped on 131 m in the first round and moved up three places with his second jump of 136.5 m and 257.4 points.

Cene Prevc was sixth after the first half of the competition with 128 m, a 138 m jump in the final and a total of 252.2 earned him the third place. For both, Constantin Schmid and the Slovene, this was the first podium finish of this COC-season today.

Felix Hoffmann of Germany came in fourth, followed by his teammate Pius Paschke and Russia's Dimitry Vassiliev, who both significantly improved their result in the second round. The German was 19th after the first round, Vassiliev 17th. With very strong second jumps of 139.5 m (Paschke) and 137 m (Vassiliev) they moved up to fifth.

Austria's Ulrich Wohlgenannt was seventh, ahead of Pawel Wasek of Poland (8th) and Ilmir Hazetdinov of Russia (9th). Martin Hammann and Moritz Baer completed the very good result of the German team in 10th and 11th.

Norway's Marius Lindvik has already claimed the overall title of the 2017/18 Continental Cup season because the Top 6 of the overall ranking are not competing in Russia this weekend. Marius Lindvik is first with 1102 points, followed by Andreas Wank (1040 points) and David Siegel (968 points).

Update: The final even on Sunday was canceled due to the strong wind.
