After she came in a close second on Friday, Kamila Karpiel of Poland could celebrate her first-ever win in the Continental Cup on Saturday in only her fourth competition.

The only 15-year-old athlete representing the club AZS Zakopane, who already had the longest jumps in both rounds in the first competition of the weekend in Oberwiesenthal (GER), was clearly the best today with her jumps of 98 m and 89.5 m and 199.3 points. "I'm still totally surprised by what I have achieved this weekend. I didn't realize that I won today's competition until the equipment check. My goal is now to participate in a Grand Prix event", said the happy winner.

The winner of yesterday's competition, local hero Ramona Straub of Germany, could also confirm her currently very good shape with the second place and 83.5 m and 90 m (182.1 points). "Honestly, I'm happy that I managed to make a pretty good first jump, it was quite windy. I'm happy about my result, but I'll continue working on my mistakes because a World Cup is still something else."

Anna Shpyneva of Russia closely missed the Top 3 on Friday in fourth, today she achieved the first podium finish of her career in third with 86.5 m and 79 m (161.1 points). Besides the 15-year-old, two more members of the Russian team were among the best on Saturday with Mariia Iakovleva (5th) and Lidiia Iakovleva (10th). "I'm really very happy right now. This third place means a lot to me, but of course I'll also want to win in one of the next COC competitions", said Anna Shpyneva.

Oceane Avocat Gros of France was fourth, Finland's Susanna Forsstroem, en route to the podium after the first round when she was third, had to be satisfied with a sixth place overall.

Second German athlete among the best 10 of the day was Agnes Reisch in seventh. Japanese Nozomi Maruyama moved up from 22nd to eighth with her great second jump of 87 m. Best Norwegian on Saturday was Thea Sofie Kleven in ninth.

After the first two of the four competitions this summer, Ramona Straub and Kamila Karpiel top the overall ranking of the Continental Cup with 180 points. Anna Shpyneva follows in third with 110 points.

The next competitions will be held in Trondheim (NOR) on September 16th and 17th.
