COC-M: Next win for Philipp Aschenwald

After his win in Szczyrk (POL) on Friday evening, Philipp Aschenwald was also the best in the second Continental Cup event of the Beskidy-Tour.
The 22-year-old Austrian showed the best jumps in both rounds on the Adam-Malysz-hill in Wisla (POL) with 130.5 m and 134 m and took his second win in a row with a total of 282.0 points. "It was a really nice competition for me today. It was a little bit less windy than yesterday, so I think it was a fair competition for everybody. I hope that tomorrow in Frenstat we will have a fair event again", said Philipp Aschenwald.
Exactly a year after he celebrated his last win so far on his home hill, local hero Aleksander Zniszczol finished second with his jumps of 129.5 m and 129 m that earned him 270.1 points. "I'm really satisfied with today’s competition. I could show two good jumps and the weather conditions were really good today, fair for everybody", said the Pole.
Zak Mogel of Slovenia, who made his debut in the Continental Cup this weekend and already showed a convincing performance in Szczyrk with an eleventh place, further improved his performance in Wisla. The only 17-year-old achieved his first ever podium in the COC with two consistently strong jumps of 129.5 m and 268.9 points. "It was a nice competition for me. I am happy that I could be third here in Wisła", said the youngster from Ljubno.
Close behind his teammate, Jaka Hvala came in fourth, followed by the two best Germans in this competition, Philipp Raimund and Fabian Seidl, who was only 15th after the first round, in fifth and sixth. For both, this was the best result of their careers so far.
Together with second-placed Aleksander Zniszczol, Przemyslaw Kantyka and Tomasz Pilch provided a good team result for the Polish hosts. A day before their home competition in Frenstat, Lukas Hlava (9th) and Viktor Polasek (10th) achieved Top 10 results for the Czech team.
With his second win, Philipp Aschenwald took the lead in the overall ranking of the Continental Cup with now 238 points. Swiss Kilian Peier is second (200 points), Russia's Evgeniy Klimov (160 points) is third.
The final competition of the weekend will take place on Sunday at 2 pm CET in Frenstat (CZE).
