COC: Pius Paschke wins in Rasnov
Aug 31, 2018·Ski JumpingPius Paschke and Timi Zajc, the two winners of the Continental Cup in Trondheim last weekend, proved their currently very good shape also in Rasnov (ROU) today.
Germany's Pius Paschke won the first competition on the HS 100 normal hill. 99.5 m earned him the lead already after the first round, he then secured his second win in the COC with 94 m in the final and a total of 249.6 points.
Like Paschke, young Slovene Timi Zajc also celebrated his first win in this competition series just last week. He confirmed this performance today with 93.5 m and 95 m (247.7 points) and the second place. The only 17-year-old was on the podium for the third time in a row.
Norway's Joachim Hauer scored 245.4 points with his jumps of 93.5 m and 94.5 m and came in third. This was his first podium finish in the Continental Cup in more than two years.
The fourth place went to Daniel Huber of Austria, only half a point behind, Germany's Dominik Maylaender, won the FIS Cup in Rasnov on Friday, finished fifth, Tilen Bartol of Slovenia was sixth.
The small two-man Swiss team can be satisfied with today's result. Both, Kilian Peier and Andreas Schuler, achieved a Top 10 result in seventh and ninth this afternoon. Klemens Muranka of Poland came in eighth, Austria's Markus Rupitsch, the winner of Thursday's FIS Cup competition, achieved the by far best COC result of his career in tenth.
With 599 points, Klemens Muranka still has a clear lead in the overall ranking. He is followed by Pius Paschke (436 points) and Tilen Bartol (367 points).
The second competition in Rasnov will take place on Sunday at 9:00 am CET.
