COC-M: Tom Hilde comes from behind to victory

Only a few days after the final event of the 4-Hills-Tournament, the next event is already held on the Paul-Ausserleitner-hill in Bischofshofen (AUT). Two Continental Cup competitions will take place there on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the first competition on Wednesday evening, Norway's Tom Hilde took a win, that he could not have hoped for after the first round. The 30-year-old was only 20th at halftime with his first jump of 131.5 m. But then he showed the best jump in the second round with 139 m and so Tom Hilde took the unexpected win with 250.9 points. It was his first victory in the Continental Cup since January 2016.

Only 0.5 points behind the Norwegian winner, team Olympic champion Andreas Wank of Germany finished second with 139 m and 126 m.

Cestmir Kozisek of the Czech Republic, with 133.5 m sixth after the first round, ended up third with 132.5 m in the final and a total of 249.8 points. The 26-year-old made it to the podium in the COC for the first time since August 2013.

Tomasz Pilch of Poland, who made his World Cup debut during the 4-Hills-Tournament and was 34th in the World Cup in Bischofshofen, and Austria's Daniel Huber finished fourth and fifth.

Before the final round in Bischofshofen, it seemed as if Germany's David Siegel would be the clear winner today. With the longest jump of the day of 142.5 m he had a lead of more than ten points over his teammate Andreas Wank. But in the final, he landed already at 116.5 m in worse conditions with some tailwind and so he finished only sixth overall.

Aleksander Zniszczol of Poland was seventh, followed by Slovenia's Nejc Dezman, who moved up from 23rd to eighth in the second round. Andreas Schuler of Switzerland and Finland's Andreas Alamommo also achieved good results in ninth and tenth.

With a total of 447 points, Tomasz Pilch now leads the overall ranking of the Continental Cup again ahead of Marius Lindvik of Norway (416 points) and Jonathan Learoyd of France (354 points).
