Colin and Treitinger end job with French Ski Jumping team

The French Ski Jumping team around veteran Vincent Descombes Sevoie and youngster Jonathan Learoyd needs a new coach for the new season.

After four years of working with the French national team, head coach Gerard Colin and his assistant Robert Treitinger ended their job in France with the end of the 2017/18 season.

In the years since 2014, Vincent Descombes Sevoie was able to achieve some remarkable results. The 34-year-old finished in the Top 10 various times and came in on a career-best fifth place in Ruka 2016. Last winter, the only 17-year-old Jonathan Learoyd attracted some attention with good performances in the World Cup and the Continental Cup.

According to Gerard Colin, some of the goals the team has set for themselves were achieved, others weren't. Now it's time for a new start for the two coaches and for the team.

Statement of Gerard Colin

The 2017/18 season concluded with the French national championships last weekend, at the same time this is also the end of an Olympic cycle. Four years ago, we got together and defined our goals. Today, four years later, we look back on these goals and we realize that we were able to achieve some and that we failed to achieve others.

We brought French Ski Jumping back into the international spotlight, were competitive at some points and created emotions. At the same time, we were not able to achieve our goals of being in the Top 3 and having a team. We were close, but when it mattered it wasn't enough.

We are looking back without regrets because we gave our all and we tried to achieve these goals, but French Ski Jumping need more time in order close the gap to the highest international level. We, as the coaching staff, started in 2014 knowing that we will work together during this Olympic cycle.

Now is the time for each of us to find new tasks. For me - Gerard Colin - it has always been clear that I'll resign after the Olympic Games in PyeongChang. For my assistant, Robert Treitinger, this is now a period of reorganization. In this regard, I want to thank him for this time together, his work and his personal input.

I also want to thank Walter Hofer and his team at the FIS, as we have been on a long path together in Ski Jumping. Furthermore, I want to thank everyone who has supported us over this past four years.
