Daniel Andre Tande wins on the Holmenkollen

Ski Flying World Champion Daniel Andre Tande claimed the fifth World Cup win of his career on Sunday on the Holmenkollen in Oslo. This was the first victory for a Norwegian on the Holmenkollen since Roar Ljoekelsoey won there 14 years ago. The two Austrians Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayboeck came in second and third. Top favorite Kamil Stoch of Poland was in the lead after the first round and finished sixth.

In difficult weather conditions with changing winds, Tande came from behind and moved up from eighth to first in the second round in front of his home crowd on the Holmenkollen. He jumped on 128 m and 132 m today. " It's amazing. I didn't expect this win, I was not jumping good in Lahti and my training jumps on Friday weren't too good either. But I was able to make progress and the last jump today was close to my top level. The first jump wasn't perfect, but it was enough to win. I hope I can continue like that and fight for the podium also in Lillehammer, Trondheim, and Vikersund", said Tande.

With Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayboeck in second and third two Austrians finished on the podium this afternoon. "My performance yesterday was quite okay, but so many athletes were jumping really well on this hill. I'm really satisfied with this, a bit unexpected, second place. I'm looking forward to a great competition in Lillehammer, I always jump well on the hill there", said last year's RAW AIR champion Stefan Kraft.

Michael Hayboeck was also very satisfied with his result: "I'm really, really happy. To be honest, I didn't expect this result. In training and in the trial round here I had a hard time and I couldn't show good jumps. The Holmenkollen is something very special, so it's great to be on the podium here. It's always great to be in Oslo and in Norway and I'm always looking forward to it."

RAW AIR favorite and overall leader Kamil Stoch was in the lead after the first round with the longest jump of the day of 138 m, but with his second jump of 119 m he lost some ground and came in only sixth. "I feel pretty good, but I'm also a bit shocked after the second round because actually, I don't really know what happened. It was still a good weekend, my jumps were on a really good level. I love that there are so many Polish fans here, I want to thank them for their support. We have the best fans in the world", said Kamil Stoch.

Stoch remains in the lead of the overall ranking of the RAW AIR with his total of 681.8 points, followed by the three Norwegians Robert Johansson (675.3 points), Johann Andre Forfang (661.6 points) and Daniel Andre Tande (650.4 points). Austria's Stefan Kraft is now fifth, best German is Andreas Wellinger in seventh, followed by Richard Freitag in eighth.

The teams will already take the 3-hour drive to Lillehammer, north of Oslo, on Sunday evening where the training (3 pm CET) and the qualification (5:30 pm CET) will be held there tomorrow.
