Dawid Kubacki is back and wins again

After his break, during which he lost the overall lead in the FIS Grand Prix, Dawid Kubacki of Poland took back this lead with his win in Hinzenbach (AUT). With a jump of 88.5 m in the first round and the longest jump of the day of 94.5 m in the final (251.9 points), the 27-year-old came in ahead of his teammate Piotr Zyla (87 m and 92.5 m; 246.3 points) and Roman Koudelka of the Czech Republic (88.5 m and 90.5 m; 246.0 points).

Kubacki from 5 to 1

Decisive for Kubacki's win today was the outstanding second jump, with which he could move up from fifth after the first round to first overall. This means that Dawid Kubacki won all four competitions he participated in this summer. "I showed a really great performance today. The hill is nice, but you need to be really good to jump far here., it's hard to jump far when you make a mistake. I still make some mistakes, so I still have to improve", Kubacki said self-critically.

His teammate Piotr Zyla achieved his best result this season in second, but the Polish crowd favorite was already second five times in a Grand Prix competition. "I didn't think about a result today, I was just focusing on my jumps and on what I had to do. My first jump was not so good, my second jump was really nice and I'm happy about my second place today. Right now we are one of the strongest teams and everyone in our team can win. I will also not focus on the results in winter, I'll focus on my job and when I do a good job, it will be a good season", said Zyla.

Koudelka saves Czech team

After four of the five Czech competitors were out in yesterday's qualification, Roman Koudelka came in on an important third place in this competition. "For me it's very important to be on the podium. After I won here in 2014 I had a great winter season. The Polish team is very strong, but so am I. When I'm still third although I didn't jump that well, that's a positive sign for me", said Koudelka.

Wellinger fourth after half-time lead

Today's competition ended with a good fourth place for Andreas Wellinger, but still he will not be completely happy with this result. Wellinger was in the lead after the first round, but with a second jump of 88.5 m he could not defend this position. Together with his teammate Stephan Leyhe, who finished sixth, Wellinger can be satisfied with the result in Hinzenbach. Both Germans are now among the favorites for the final event of the Grand Prix in Klingenthal.

Stefan Hula in fifth and Maciej Kot in seventh completed the dominant result of the Polish team. Four athletes in the Top 7 and double Olympic champion Kamil Stoch and Jakub Wolny also in the final: This result sends a strong signal to the other teams only six weeks before the winter season starts with the first competitions in Wisla (POL).

The two Italians Davide Bresadola and Sebastian Colloredo again showed their upward trend. With a 10th and a 13th place, the athletes of head coach Lukasz Kruczek proved that they will have to be reckoned with in winter.

Dawid Kubacki now leads the overall ranking of the Grand Prix before the final competition with a total of 400 points. Anze Lanisek of Slovenia (353 points) and Junshiro Kobayashi of Japan (332 points) follow in second and third.

The final of the Grand Prix will be held in Klingenthal (GER) on Tuesday. This summer's last competition starts at 2:45 pm CET.
