Dawid Kubacki remains unbeatable

Poland's Dawid Kubacki took a clear win in the qualification for the final competition of the FIS Grand Prix 2017 in Klingenthal (GER) this evening.
Dawid Kubacki in a league of his own
The longest jump of the day of 137.5 m earned Kubacki a good lead of nine points ahead of the two Norwegians Robert Johansson and Johann Andre Forfang, who tied for second with 125.1 points.
Team Poland strong again
After their great team result in Hinzenbach, the Polish team showed yet another outstanding performance today. Besides the winner Kubacki, Maciej Kot and Stefan Hula came in fifth and sixth. Klemens Muranka (8th), Piotr Zyla (9th) and Kamil Stoch (10th) completed the Top 10. Six Polish athletes among the best 10 - impressive.
Wellinger among the best again
Andreas Wellinger was the best German in fourth, only 0.1 points behind the two Norwegians. It was also a good day for the rest of the team. Germany has an additional national quota Klingenthal and so ten German jumpers will get the chance to prove their skills in front of the home crowd on Tuesday. Only the two young athletes Felix Hoffmann and Moritz Baer failed to make the cut for the competition.
Junshiro Kobayashi and Anze Lanisek, who both still have the chance to beat Dawid Kubacki in the race for the overall title of the Grand Prix, were 11th and 21st today and will have to improve their performances in the big finale tomorrow in order to fight for the top spots.
Poppinger back after injury
Austria's Manuel Poppinger made a strong comeback after his long break due to an injury. On the normal hill in Hinzenbach on Saturday he was only 52nd in the qualification, but in Klingenthal he finished 22nd and had no problems to qualify.
Schlierenzauer strong
Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria also showed a convincing performance. With a jump of 129 m (121.1 points) Schlierenzauer easily qualified for the competition, while his teammate Michael Hayboeck couldn't make the cut. Kevin Bickner, Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes, Jakub Janda and Andreas Stjernen are also among those who couldn't qualify today.
The final competition of the FIS Grand Prix 2017 in Klingenthal starts on Tuesday at 3:40 pm CET.
