Eetu Nousiainen wins Finnish championships

Youngster Eetu Nousiainen, who made his debut in the World Cup towards the end of last season, was the best in the Finnish Ski Jumping championships on the normal hill on Sunday.

The 19-year-old from Kuopio showed the longest jump of the day in Taivalkoski with 82 m in the first round and took the national championship title with 80.5 m in the final round and 268.6 points.

Ville Larinto came in second with his jumps of 81 m and 80.5 m on the HS 80 and 262.7 points. Antti Aalto was third with 81 m and 78 m and a total of 255.2 points.

In the final event of a long winter season, Juho Ojala was fourth, followed by Andreas Alamommo, Lauri Asikainen and Jarkko Maeaettae.

Janne Ahonen, who ended the 2016/17 World Cup season already two weeks before the final in Planica late March, did not take part in this competition.

The ladies' event was won by Susanna Forsstroem with 212.8 points (69.5 m and 73.5 m), ahead of Julia Tervahartiala (64.5 m and 63.5 m; 171.3 points) and Annamaija Oinas (45 m and 44 m; 67.7 points).
