The upcoming Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf (GER) will take place without the two former World Champions Robert Kranjec and Gregor Schlierenzauer.

Gregor Schlierenzauer, who won Gold at the last SFWC in Oberstdorf 2008, finished only 38th in the Ski Flying event on the Kulm last weekend and could not earn his spot on the Austrian team with this performance.

Head coach Heinz Kuttin named Stefan Kraft, Michael Hayboeck, Manuel Poppinger, Clemens Aigner and Florian Altenburger to the team for the competitions on the Heini-Klopfer-hill.

Slovenia without Kranjec and Tepes

The 2012 Ski Flying World Champion, Robert Kranjec, will also not be competing in Oberstdorf. The Slovene, who is known to be a true Ski Flying specialist, is struggling with his shape and couldn't score World Cup points so far this season. Jurij Tepes, who can also do extremely well on the really big hills and proved his flying skills various times before, is also not on the Slovenian team for these Championships.

Besides defending champion Peter Prevc and Jernej Damjan, head coach Goran Janus also nominated Domen Prevc, Anze Semenic, Tilen Bartol and Ziga Jelar. For all four of them, this will be the first participation in Ski Flying World Championships.
