Right at the beginning of the preparation for the new season, there is bad news from Slovenia. Jaka Hvala suffered a serious injury on Friday during the first jumping training camp of the B-Team in Villach (AUT).

"Yesterday was a miserable day for me. I was jumping well during the whole training and I really enjoyed it. It then happened in the last jump. It was a very good jump and right after the take-off it was clear that it would go too far. Before the landing I was still very high and I knew right away that something was not okay with my left knee", the Slovene wrote on his facebook page.

Medical checks in Jesenice then showed that Jaka Hvala tore his ACL and eventually also suffered a meniscus injury. The 23-year-old, who took his so far only World Cup win 2013 in Klingenthal, now has to undergo surgery and will be sidelined for about six months after that.

"It's not easy to deal with it. But that's life and this experience will make me even stronger", Jaka Hvala added.

Žal je sezona zame zaradi poškodbe kolena najverjetneje končana. Hvala vsem za pomoč, spodbudo in lepe želje! #injury #bepositive #sloski pic.twitter.com/F2Iwtk6dZi
