In a video message on Friday, Polish ski jumper Jan Ziobro announced that he is suspending his career.

"It's not that I don't want to jump, but it doesn't make sense to continue the career because there are people, who want to destroy me as a ski jumper. There are a number of decisions that were scandalous. For a long time, obstacles were thrown in my path", Jan Ziobro said in a video on Facebook according to skijumping.pl.

For the 26-year-old, the reason to make this decision right now was the nomination of the Polish team for the Continental Cup in Titisee-Neustadt this weekend. "Before New Year's we were jumping in Zakopane. I had jumped between 122 m and 126 m. Andrzej Stekala, to whom I want to apologize because I don't have anything against him, landed between 105 m and 110 m. But it was not me, who got named to the team for these competitions", Ziobro continued.

"I can no longer remain silent and I have to speak about it in public. Some might ask why I suspended my career, but nobody knows what was going on. All are equal, but some are more equal than others. This is not acceptable. For now, I say goodbye to Ski Jumping. Thank you to everyone who supported me. Now I need to rest and cool down because there were many of these situations in the last two years. This was not an isolated case."

Jan Ziobro took his only win in the World Cup so far in December 2013 in Engelberg, a day later he achieved a second podium finish in third. At the Nordic World Championships in Falun 2015 he won the bronze medal with the team. This season, Ziobro failed to qualify for the competition at the World Cup opener in Wisla (POL) and was only competing in the FIS Cup in Notodden, where he finished 20th and 14th.
