Jakub Janda is the new chairman of the advisory board for Ski Jumping of the Czech Ski Association. The former overall World Cup champion (2006) and 4-Hills-Tournament winner (2006) was elected on Saturday in Liberec (CZE) with 34 of the 36 votes.

This means that the former world-class ski jumper will now be pulling the strings for the recently struggling Czech Ski Jumping team around Roman Koudelka. Janda ended his Ski Jumping career last year after he was surprisingly elected to the Czech parliament. The 40-year-old is representing the liberal-conservative ODS party.

"We will now be taking charge and first of all we will have to assess the situation, then we'll see what steps we will take in order to follow up on our past successes. I'm convinced that we will be able to get Czech Ski Jumping back to where it belongs. This means that our athletes not only score points, but also achieve podium results", Janda said to Berkutschi.com.

David Jiroutek replaces Richard Schallert

Besides the new chairman Janda, there will also be a new head coach for the Czech national team. David Jiroutek replaces Austrian Richard Schallert in this position. Last winter, the team of the Czech Republic finished tenth in the Nations Cup with only a total of 95 points. The best result of the season was the 20th place of Roman Koudelka in January in Zakopane.

This move from Schallert to Jiroutek is already the sixth change of the coaching staff in the Ski Jumping World Cup after the 2017/18 season.
