Kamil Stoch a class of his own

Kamil Stoch of Poland won the qualification in Lillehammer on Monday evening with an outstanding jump of 139.5 m (153.5 points. The second and third place went to Dawid Kubacki of Poland (136.4 points) and local hero Robert Johansson, who came in only the tiny margin of 0.1 points behind Kubacki. With his win today, Kamil Stoch could extend his lead in the RAW AIR overall ranking to 23.5 points.

The second qualification of the RAW AIR 2018 was held in good conditions and wintery temperatures and the usual suspects came out on top. Stoch, Kubacki, and Johansson were followed by the second-best Norwegian Andreas Stjernen, who is also among the best in the overall ranking.

Slovenia's Peter Prevc surprised in fifth, ahead of Austria's Stefan Kraft, who had already shown a convincing performance on the Holmenkollen where he finished second. Yukiya Sato of Japan was seventh and Bulgaria's Vladimir Zografski convinced in eighth, Gregor Schlierenzauer was ninth and seems to be on the way back to his old strength.

Daniel Andre Tande, who won on the Holmenkollen, had to be satisfied with the tenth place this evening. Best German was Karl Geiger in 11th

Norway's Tom Hilde came in 49th and qualified for the competition, which will probably be the last of his career.

The competition in Lillehammer starts on Tuesday at 5 pm CET.
