Kamil Stoch takes the final win of the season

Kamil Stoch of Poland once again showed his great skills in the final competition of the 2017/18 World Cup season. The Pole, who has already claimed the overall World Cup title last weekend, also won the second individual competition in Planica (SLO). The second and third place went to Austria's Stefan Kraft and Daniel Andre Tande of Norway.

Kamil Stoch laid the foundation for his 31st World Cup win, the ninth this season, with the longest jump of the day of 245 m in the first round. The 30-year-old then took his overall third win on the Ski Flying hill in Slovenia with a final jump of 234.5 m and a total of 455.6 points. With this performance, Kamil Stoch also won the first edition of the Planica 7 and an additional prize money of CHF 20000,-. "It was a great season for myself and the entire team. I want to thank every member of our team, without them I wouldn't be here right now. And I also want to thank my wife, my parents, and the fans. We have to best fans in the world", said this season's high-flyer, who not only won the overall World Cup, but also the 4-Hills-Tournament and Olympic Gold.

After his third place on Friday, Stefan Kraft proved again that this hill really suits him. The world record holder jumped on 243 m and 236 m on Sunday and came closest to Stoch with his 440.1 points.

Daniel Andre Tande, who narrowly failed to qualify for the individual competition on Friday, proved his flying skills again today. The Ski Flying World Champion showed jumps of 243.5 m and 234.5 m and finished third with 439.6 points. He also landed on the same place in the overall World Cup. "I was jumping consistently throughout the season, of course, the Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf were special for me. I have now been third twice in a row in the overall World Cup, winning this title is always a goal. I really want to lift that globe at the end of the season one day", said Daniel Andre Tande.

Robert Johansson and Andreas Stjernen followed right behind Tande in fourth and fifth, the once again extremely strong team result of the Norwegians was completed by Johann Andre Forfang in eighth and Anders Fannemel in eleventh. Johann Andre Forfang was leading the Planica 7 until today, but at the end, he came in behind Kamil Stoch.

Richard Freitag and Karl Geiger provided a good result for the German Ski Association in the season's final event in sixth and seventh. Markus Eisenbichler was 12th and Andreas Wellinger 16th. "It was a really good season for me, I had many nice moments and some not so nice moments. It's special to end the season here in Planica every time.  Everyone just enjoys ski jumping here", said Richard Freitag, who finishes second in this winter's overall World Cup.

Best Slovene in front of the home crowd was Peter Prevc, who tied for eighth with Johann Andre Forfang. Junshiro Kobayashi was the best of the Japanese team in tenth, his younger brother Ryoyu showed strong flights again as well and was 15th. The two Ski Flying veterans Simon Ammann and Noriaki Kasai ended the season with the places 14 and 22.

Overall titles to Stoch, Stjernen, and Norway

With his fifth place today, Andreas Stjernen claimed the overall win in the Ski Flying World Cup. The Norwegian took the title with 257 points close ahead of his teammate Robert Johansson and Kamil Stoch, who both scored 250 points.

Kamil Stoch had already secured his second overall World Cup title last Sunday in Vikersund. In the end, the Polish national hero won the title with 1443 points, followed by Richard Freitag (1070 points) and Daniel Andre Tande (985 points).

The victory of the Planica 7 ranking went to Kamil Stoch with 1538.2 points. Johann Andre Forfang (1528.8 points) and Robert Johansson (1512.5 points) came in second and third.

The Nation's Cup of the 2017/18 season was dominated by Norway with 7149 points. Germany finishes second with 5976 points, Poland takes the third place with 5795 points.
