Lundby's winning streak continues in Ljubno
Aug 31, 2018·Ski JumpingMaren Lundby of Norway won the Individual competition of the FIS World Cup Ladies Ski Jumping in Ljubno (SLO) with 88,5 and 91,0 meters and 256,0 points ahead of Katharina Althaus (GER) 241,5 points and Sara Takanashi (JPN) 236,3 points.
6th victory in a row for Maren Lundby
Maren has now been unbeatable six times in a row, seven in total and got on a podium place on every nine competition this season. "Today I made two perfect jumps, I‘m very well prepared, and this is the outcome. I take the jumps one by one, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I think about the Olympics but am still focused on the competition here in Ljubno, where it is nice to jump in front of so many people. This is really a special place for the women ski jumping."
Katharina Althaus has been on the podium in every competition she has taken part. "I was not satisfied with my first jump, but the second was very good. I’m happy I finished on the podium and look forward to tomorrow."
Sara Takanashi took third place today. "I am satisfied with my jumps today. There is still room to improve, so I will try to do better tomorrow."
Daniela Iraschko-Stolz's comeback to World Cup
Daniela Iraschko-Stolz shoved impressive performance on 4th place after recovery from the injuries. Carina Vogt took 5th place in front of the best local hero Ema Klinec. Austrian's Chiara Hoelzl and Slovenian's Nika Kriznar shared 7th place. Irina Avvakumova and Juliane Seyfarth reached the last places in the top 10.
Today, the venue had an excellent atmosphere. 7,500 spectators were cheering on athletes. Slovenian's got five athletes into top 30 in front of the home crowd.
