Manuela Malsiner Junior World Champion
Aug 31, 2018·Ski JumpingManuela Malsiner of Italy is the new Junior World Champion in Ladies Ski Jumping. The 19-year old won with jumps to 93,0 and 95,5 meters and 239,8 points in Park City (USA) ahead of the two Slovenians Ema Klinec and Nika Kriznar.
Malsiners´ year
With her victory Malsiner put the cherry on the cake of her already very successful year 2017. Two weeks ago she celebrated her first World Cup podiums in Zao (JPN). Klinec was still in the lead after her jump to 92,0 meters in the first round. 93,0 meters in the final and 238,0 points gave her an advantage of 0,1 points to Kriznar and the silver medal. Nika Kriznar, with only 17 years of age one of the youngest participants, performed 91,0 and 95,5 meters.
Fourth place far from the podium
18,2 points behind Kriznar Germany´s Gianina Ernst came in 4th ahead of teammate Agnes Reisch (214,6). Lara Malsiner, the younger sister of the new Junior World Champion, Germany´s Luisa Goerlich and Pauline Hessler on 6, 7 and 10 and the young Russians Ksenia Kablukova and Sofia Tikhonova on 8 and 9 completed the top ten. Romania´s Daniela Haralambie, last year in Rasnov 4th, came in 11th this time.
Bodnarchuk and Rajda strong
Canada´s Natasha Bodnarchuk on 12th place was the strongest North-American athlete, while the hosting USA could not place a lady in the final round. Poland´s Kinga Rajda came in on a good 13th place, leaving much more World cup experienced jumpers like Austria´s Elisabeth Raudaschl (19th) and Barbora Blazkova (27th) from the Czech Republic behind her.
On Sunday the flying junior ladies will have another appearance in the mixed competition in Park City.
