Bad news for Michael Hayboeck only a few weeks before the 2017/18 World Cup season starts mid-November in Wisla (POL).

The Austrian sustained an injury to his left ankle during a training camp of the national team in Cyprus and will now be sidelined indefinitely.

The 26-year-old, who recently won the titles on the large and normal hill at the Austrian championships in Bischofshofen and Villach, twisted his ankle in a stair run training session. After a first medical examination, a ligament tear is suspected.

"I will now stay here in Cyprus and actively work on my rehabilitation. Obviously, the timing is not really good now, but it never is for an injury anyway", Michael Hayboeck is quoted on orf.at.
