There will be an additional medal event in Ski Jumping at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (CHN): The mixed team competition will then be included in the Olympic competition program for the first time.

As the 15-member Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday in Lausanne (SUI), four new FIS competitions will be held in Beijing, among them also the mixed team competition in Ski Jumping.

This means that the athletes will be fighting for Olympic gold, silver, and bronze in a total of five Ski Jumping competitions - individual ladies (NH) and men (LH and NH), team men and mixed team.

The first mixed team competition was held in summer 2012 as part of the FIS Grand Prix. The new format then made its debut in the World Cup in November 2012 in Lillehammer. Since 2013, mixed team events are also held at Nordic World Championships. The first title in Predazzo five years ago went to Japan (Yuki Ito, Daiki Ito, Sara Takanashi and Taku Takeuchi). At the last World Championships in Lahti 2017, the gold medal went to the team of Germany (Carina Vogt, Markus Eisenbichler, Svenja Wuerth and Andreas Wellinger).
