Niko Kytoesaho is Finnish champion
Aug 31, 2018·Ski JumpingNiko Kytoesaho won the Finnish national Ski Jumping championships on the large hill in Lahti on Wednesday evening.
The 18-year-old showed two consistently strong jumps of 123.5 m and 124 m on the HS 130 and took the clear win with 258.9 points. "The jumps were not so great, but the basic level is getting better. I could win even though my jumps were not that good, this gives me self-confidence", Niko Kytoesaho is quoted on the website of the Finnish Ski Association.
The second place went to Lauri Asikainen with 116 m and 124.5 m and 241.8 points. Juho Ojala came in third with 115 m and 123.5 m and a total of 240.2 points.
Jarkko Maeaettae (234.7 points), Andreas Alamommo (231.9 points) and Ville Larinto (212.1 points) finished on the places four to six.
Janne Ahonen, Antti Aalto, and Eetu Nousiainen were not participating in this competition as they are taking part in the Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf this weekend.
Jarkko Maeaettae was named to the team for the SFWC after the national championships. The new Finnish champion Niko Kytoesaho can't compete in a Ski Flying event because he has not scored World Cup points yet in his career.
