Nordic WSC 2023 in Planica
Aug 31, 2018·Ski JumpingThe hosting cities for the World Championships in the years 2022 and 2023 were announced at the FIS Congress in Costa Navarino (GRE) on Thursday evening.
With Planica (SLO) and Trondheim (NOR), two traditional venues were bidding for the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships 2023 and, in the end, the organizing committee from Planica could celebrate today.
Planica already wanted to host the World Championships 2017, 2019 and 2021, but lost against Lahti, Seefeld, and Oberstdorf. The fourth attempt was now successful for the Slovenes and so World Championships in the nordic disciplines will be held in the Planica Nordic Center for the first time ever.
"This is a great day for the Slovenian Ski Association. After eight years of hard work we finally get the opportunity to show to the world that we can and we will host a great event. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in Planica 2023", said Enzo Smrekar, the president of the Slovenian Ski Association.
