Norwegians sweep the podium, Kamil Stoch takes the titles

Big wins today Kamil Stoch and the Norwegian team of head coach Alexander Stoeckl. In the final Ski Flying event of the RAW AIR in Vikersund, the Norwegians Robert Johansson (444.3 points), Andreas Stjernen (438.9 points) and Daniel Andre Tande (436.6 points) showed an outstanding performance and swept the podium. Kamil Stoch of Poland, who finished sixth today, took the well-deserved overall title of the RAW AIR. With today's result, Stoch also claimed the overall World Cup title.

It was the perfect place for Robert Johansson to finally take his first ever win in the World Cup. After two individual bronze medals in PyeongChang, Johansson's first win was long overdue and it was extra special for the man from Lillehammer to achieve this in a Ski Flying competition in Norway. "It's been ten tough days, but I think that we have seen Ski Jumping on a level that has maybe never been seen before. It was amazing to see how Kamil was performing on the large hills and I'm really happy that I was able to fight with him on the Ski Flying hill here. I had so much fun with my teammates and all the competitors. Even though it has been ten intense days, we have been able to relax as much as possible. I think I will sleep quite well tonight", said today's winner, who earned an extra € 20000.- for finishing second in the RAW AIR overall.

The second place in today's competition went to Andreas Stjernen, who won the first Ski Flying World Cup this winter in Bad Mitterndorf. Stjernen also finished on the podium of the RAW AIR overall ranking in third. "This RAW AIR was amazing for me. Everything has gone smoothly and my jumps were also quite good so I'm happy about that. It seems that everyone enjoyed it and so did I. We are having a great team and we are coming here to Vikersund, everyone has a special feeling", said Stjernen. Andreas Stjernen is leading the Ski Flying World Cup with 180 points, followed by Robert Johansson (150 points) and Daniel Andre Tande (140 points).

The celebrated winner of the RAW AIR was Kamil Stoch. Besides the RAW AIR, Stoch could also secure his second overall World Cup title. The 30-year-old, who also won the overall World Cup 2013/14, is now the oldest athlete ever to win the big crystal globe. Kamil Stoch was celebrating this huge success in the outrun after today's event together with his team and the many Polish fans at the hill in Vikersund. "I want to thank all the athletes for the nice fight until the end and for increasing the level from competition to competition. It was tough, but in the end I'm really happy and I also want to thank my teammates and my coaches, because without them I wouldn't be here." For his win of the RAW AIR, Kamil Stoch was awarded a prize money of € 60 000.-. In the 16 competition rounds, the Pole scored a total of 2590.6 points and came in clearly ahead of Robert Johansson (2553.6 points) and Andreas Stjernen (2508.3 points).

The organizers received a lot of praise from athletes and officials for carrying out the 2nd edition of the RAW AIR. Transportation, accommodation, board, and logistics were perfect.

The Ski Jumping World Cup final is held next weekend in Planica (SLO) with the first Planica-7 series. In addition to the three World Cup events (1 x team; 2 x individual), the qualification also counts for the overall ranking consisting of a total of 7 competition rounds.
