Polish team honored in Warsaw

The Polish Ski Jumping team around overall World Cup winner Kamil Stoch was honored on Saturday at a gala event of the national Olympic committee in Warsaw.

At this event in the Olympic center in the Polish capital, that was also attended by president Andrzej Duda, Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, Maciej Kot, Stefan Hula and head coach Stefan Horngacher received the well-deserved prize money for winning the bronze medal in the team competition and Kamil Stoch's gold on the large hill in PyeongChang.

"It's a great honor, but it is my duty to say a few words about the people, who are not here, but who also contributed to my success and to the success of our team. I owe a lot to the entire coaching staff, they have spent a lot of time with us, they have shared our joys and failures. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank them and share this prize with them," said Kamil Stoch.

Stefan Horngacher also praised the effort of the team: "Hard work is one of the keys to success, but there are many keys, especially in Ski Jumping. Ski jumping is a really complicated sport - it can be so easy, but it can also be so hard. We are working a lot for it, we are not only standing on the tower and give the sign to jump - there is a lot of work behind this. But the first and the most important thing is the team and we are a really good team. The entire coaching staff - physical therapists, technical staff - everyone works very hard together. We have very good athletes, who are friends and work together. I think it's the foundation to achieve a good result, but in the end, hard work will pay off", said coach Stefan Horngacher.

Three-time Olympic champion Kamil Stoch was also honored by the Polish post office with a special stamp, which was designed in cooperation with Kamil Stoch's wife Ewa. The print run of this unique stamp is one million units and its value is PLN 3.70 PLN (approx. € 0.90).
