At the fall meetings in Zurich (SUI), the

FIS

Ski Jumping Committee has decided that there will be no pre-qualified athletes anymore in the future. This means that every competitor in the qualification needs to finish in the Top 50 in order to be allowed to participate in the competition.

If an athlete fails to make this cut, he can't take part in the competition. So far the Top 10 of the overall World Cup ranking were pre-qualified for the following event. In the past, the fact that top athletes, who didn't have to qualify for the competitions, have sometimes decided to not start in the qualification lead to discussions.

The calendars for the upcoming winter were confirmed

FIS World Cup Men 2017/18
FIS World Cup Ladies 2017/18
FIS Continental Cup 2017/18

The preliminary calendars for the summer 2018 and the 2018/19 winter season were also presented

FIS Grand Prix 2018
FIS World Cup Men 2018/19
FIS World Cup Ladies 2018/19

Exciting new competition series for the ladies

At the beginning of the upcoming winter, there will be a highlight on the calendar for the ladies: The Lillehammer Triple, with three World Cup competitions in Lillehammer. The best athletes of these three competitions will get an additional prize money of 10 000 Euro (divided between the Top 3).

In the 2018/19 winter season, a new event, consisting of four competitions, is planned in Russia. At the season final two competitions will be held in Nizhny Tagil and Chaikovsky. After this event the overall World Cup winner and the winner of this competition series, which has not been named yet, will be crowned.
