Preview: Ladies World Cup in Rasnov

After two weeks and four competitions in Japan, the FIS World Cup Ladies Ski Jumping will continue in Romania. Rasnov, located around 2,5 hours by car in the north west of the capital Bucharest, is a small town with 15.000 inhabitants.

International competitions since 5 years
Since 2012 the Trambulină Valea Cărbunării hills are hosting FIS competitions. Apart from the K 90 hill, where the ladies’ World Cup will be held, there is also a K 15, a K 35 and a K 64 hill. In 2016 Rasnov was hosting the FIS Junior World Championships. The ladies´ title in Ski Jumping went to Chiara Hoelzl of Austria. Local hero Daniela Haralambie, the face of the competitions in Rasnov, missed out on the podium by only 0,6 points and finished fourth. The FIS World Cup of the ladies, scheduled in the beginning of March 2016, had to be cancelled afterwards because of the spring-like temperatures.

Takanashi and Iraschko-Stolz with good memories
One year before the victories went to Sara Takanashi and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz. In 2014 Sara Takanashi won both competitions of the first World Cup events in Rasnov. This time the race appears to be completely open. After Sara Takanashi surprisingly couldn´t win in Japan and teammate Yuki Ito came back to Europe with three victories also Norway´s Maren Lundby can look back to already two wins this season. The German team is getting stronger and stronger and might be fighting at least for the podium.

Thrilling competitions ahead
Also the Austrians and Slovenians are expected to slowly approach the best shape. Other than last year the weather will not get in the way this time. Since a few weeks the temperatures are steadily below zero degree and the local OC had more than enough snow for the preparation of the hill.
