Sara Takanashi win the season finale in Oberstdorf

Sara Takanashi of Japan won the final Individual competition of the FIS World Cup Ladies Ski Jumping in Oberstdorf with 99,0 and 102,5 meters and 250,4 points ahead of Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT) 238,8 points and Maren Lundby (NOR) 231,0 points.

Today's back-to-back win in Oberstdorf meant Takanashi increased the number of her victories into 55 securing her title as the most successful athlete in Ski Jumping World Cup. Sara Takanashi JPN: "I'm very happy about my weekend, and I'm satisfied with today's competition. Maren and Katharina were so strong during this season, so 3rd place in overall World Cup is great."

Podium order in this season's final event was the same as yesterday. Austrian Daniela Iraschko-Stolz took the second place: "I've always jumped well here in  Oberstdorf. I had pretty good jumps today as well. I'm looking forward to the future. I will train hard in the summer, and I will compete next season as well."

Maren Lundby of Norway rose again to the podium with an excellent second round jump: "This is really great. I'm a bit surprised everything went so well during the season, better than expected. I've been training with the boys five or six years now, and it is one of the reasons for my improved performance. All in all my technique has been better, I've been able to be more stable this year."

The Japanese team had a good day, three athletes in the top six. Yuka Seto JPN was fourth and her teammate Yuki Ito sixth. Slovenian Ursa Bogataj had her season-best result ending between the two Japanese Ladies to the fifth position. Rest of the top ten places went for the local heroes. Katharina Althaus was best German athlete with 7th position, Carina Vogt 8th, Ramona Straub 9th and Juliane Seyfarth was 10th.

World Cup individual overall title for Maren Lundby
Norwegian Maren Lundby secured her overall title well ahead of the finals ending with a total of 1340 points. She presented an astonishing level throughout the season, being on the podium in each competition and winning nine out of 15. Katharina Althaus of Germany came second with 928 points ahead of Japanese Sara Takanashi 916 points. Althaus stood in the podium ten times, winning three times. Takanashi had eight podiums, two of them victories.

Nations Cup overall for Germany
Germans celebrate the Nations Cup win in front of the home crowd with 2952 points ahead of Japan and Norway. The Japanese grand finale was not enough, and they only left five points to Germany with 2947 points. Norwegian collected 2037 points all in all.

I'm proud of my Ladies, my assistant coaches, physiotherapists and everyone who's working behind so we could be the best Ladies Ski Jumping team in the world."
