Stefan Kraft with the longest jump in training

The second official training for Thursday's individual competition on the large hill at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was held on the HS 130 hill in Lahti (FIN) on Tuesday evening.

In the first two of the three rounds especially the Norwegians convinced with very good performances. So Andreas Stjernen had the best jump in the first round with 127 m. He was followed by his teammate Anders Fannemel with 124 m and Poland's Maciej Kot in third with 119.5 m.

The fourth place went to the new normal hill World Champion, Stefan Kraft of Austria, with 115.5 m. Kraft's teammate Markus Schiffner (124.5 m) and Johann Andre Forfang of Norway (129 m) had long jumps as well, but both started from a higher gate.

Andreas Stjernen could then confirm the srong performance weith the longest jump in the second round of 129.5 m. His two teammates Anders Fannemel (129 m) and Johann Andre Forfang (128.5 m), who seems to have recovered well from the health problems that prevented him from competing in the mixed team event on Sunday, could keep up with Stjernenin this round. Michael Hayboeck (121.5 m) and Piotr Zyla (125 m) followed right behind the Top 3.

Stefan Kraft then had the longest jump of the day with 131.5 m in the third and final round. Piotr Zyla was the best of the Polish team with 128 m, with Robert Johansson, who jumped on 126 m, another member of the Norwegian team showed a convincing performance. Andreas Kofler (121.5 m), Maciej Kot (124.5 m) and Daniel Andre Tande (121.5 m) also had their best jumps in today's final round.

Domen Prevc leaves Lahti early

For Domen Prevc, who took part in the first round and jumped only on 76 m, the WSC in Lahti are already over. Head coach Goran Janus decided that the 17-year old, who could never present himself in a good shape during the days in Lahti, should now train at home. So far it has not been decided yet, whether this winter's up and comer will be competing in the RAW AIR competition series, starting on March 10th in Oslo.

Kamil Stoch, the best in Monday's training session, Andreas Wellinger, Markus Eisenbichler, Peter Prevc and others decided to take a break before the qualification on Wednesday evening and did not jump today.

Schiffner replaces Schlierenzauer

Compared to the competition on the normal hill, Markus Schiffner will replace Gregor Schlierenzauer on the Austrian team. With this decision, the 24-year-old will get the chance to compete in such a major event for the first time.

Anders Fannemel earned his place on the Norwegian team for the qualification, Robert Johansson, 16th in the normal hill competition, is the one who will not get to jump this time.

While the German team remains unchanged, Jurij Tepes and Anze Lanisek will compete for Slovenia instead of Domen and Cene Prevc.
