In absence of the top favorite Maren Lundby of Norway, the two Japanese athletes Sara Takanashi and Yuki Ito underlined their ambitions to achieve a top result on the HS 109 normal hill in PyeongChang.

Sara Takanashi had the best jumps in the first two rounds, in the third and final round Yuki Ito came out on top. Takanashi posted jumps of 103 m, 106.5 m and 98 m, Ito jumped on 102 m, 105.5 m and 103 m.

The difficult wind conditions lead to various longer breaks during the course of this training session.

Katharina Althaus, the best of the German team, was third in the first two rounds and then skipped the third jump. A top result is within reach for Althaus. "It's going better and better, my performance is getting more consistent. There are still some details that I can improve, but I'll be able to handle that", Althaus said after the training.

Austria's Daniela Iraschko-Stolz also has a chance to take home a medal. The 34-year-old is in a very strong shape after her long break due to an injury.

The third ladies' training will take place on Sunday at 8 pm (12 pm CET), the competition follows on Monday at 9:50 pm (1:50 pm CET).
