Sara Takanashi of Japan took the win in the qualification for the first competition of the FIS Grand Prix Ladies Ski Jumping in Chaikovsky (RUS).

Huge lead for Takanashi
In cloudy conditions Takanashi performed the longest jump of the day to 100,5 meters and got 127,9 points. That gave her a huge advantage of 11,7 points over Lucile Morat of France on 2nd place. Morat jumped 99,5 meters. Third place went to Julia Kykkaenen of Finland with 92,0 meters and 105,7 points.

Ito not in Chaikovsky
While Grand Prix overall leader Yuki Ito is struggling with technical issues in Japan, local hero Irina Avvakumova showed a promising start into the weekend on 4th place ahead of Norway’s Silje Opseth and Slovenia’s Maja Vtic, who shared the 7th place with Nita Englund of the United States. 9th place went to the best German of the day, Juliane Seyfarth.

Lundby with room for improvement
Maren Lundby of Norway came in 10th and still left some room for improvement for the upcoming competitions one day after her 23rd birthday. Leaving out on the first competition on Saturday are Italia’s Evelyn Insam and Germanys Luisa Goerlich, who failed to qualify.

The competition starts on Saturday at 10am (CET).
