Team Norway also dominates in Planica

The team of Norway (Daniel Andre Tande, Andreas Stjernen, Robert Johansson, Johann Andre Forfang) won this season's final team competition in Planica with 1620.2 points clearly ahead of Germany (Markus Eisenbichler, Stephan Leyhe, Andreas Wellinger, Richard Freitag; 1482.9 points) and Slovenia (Domen Prevc, Robert Kranjec, Anze Semenic, Peter Prevc; 1474.5 points).

This competition was again mainly about the fight for the places two to four. The Norwegians were once again too strong for the rest of the competition. It was the 25th win in the World Cup for the flying Vikings, the fifth in a row in a Ski Flying World Cup team event. In the last ten World Cup team events, the Norwegians always finished on the podium, 8 times in first place, twice in third. "It was a good day for us, we had some really good jumps. Our team loves Planica. It's good that it's over tomorrow, it's been a long season. It's been a hard fight in many competitions. I will enjoy the last day tomorrow", said Andreas Stjernen of Team Norway.

Stjernen leads the overall Ski Flying World Cup and can win the small crystal bowl in the final competition on Sunday.

Germany strong

The second place went to the Germans, who were fighting with the teams of Slovenia and Poland during the entire competition. Germany has already finished second behind Norway here in Planica last year. Markus Eisenbichler showed a strong performance for the German team. "My jumps in the competition were okay and I'm really happy with the second place. The Norwegians are jumping very, very good, but maybe we can beat them in Ski Flying next season. I like the hill here, it's always nice to come to Planica. Tomorrow I hope for good conditions and then we'll see what happens", said the athlete from Bavaria.

Slovenia ahead of Poland

Slovenia fights - One Kamil Stoch was not enough for Poland to secure the podium finish in a dramatic fight with the team of Slovenia. Despite a, once again, outstanding performance of Kamil Stoch, Poland came in four points behind the podium. Especially Domen Prevc and veteran Robert Kranjec provided the necessary points for today's success. "I'm very satisfied with this result and I'm happy that I could jump in front of a home crowd and finish on the podium. I had a bad season, but now I'm enjoying the time in Planica. I'm happy that I could end the season with nice flights here", said the 2012 Ski Flying World Champion. The fourth place went to Kamil Stoch, Piotr Zyla, Dawid Kubacki and Stefan Hula.

A great performance was once again shown by the team of Japan around Noriaki Kasai in fifth. The Japanese team with Noriaki Kasai, Junshiro and Ryoyu Kobayashi and Yukiya Sato can achieve a lot next winter. Also the upcoming changes of the coaching staff should bring some fresh air to the team.

Austria (6th), Russia (7th) and Switzerland (8th) completed the Top 8 in today's final round.

Forfang leads after five of seven

Johann Andre Forfang still leads the Planica 7 overall ranking with 1104.7 points, ahead of Kamil Stoch (1082.6 points) and Robert Johansson (1074.3 points). The decision about who will take home the additional prize money of 20000 CHF will not be made until the final competition on Sunday.

Overall World Cup decided - Ski Flying ranking still open

Kamil Stoch of Poland has already secured this season's overall World Cup title. The battle for the overall title in the Ski Flying World Cup is still open. Right now Norway's Andreas Stjernen is leading with 212 points, followed by his teammate Robert Johansson (200 points) and Kamil Stoch (150 points).

The final competition of the season will start on Sunday at 10 am CET.
