Shortly before the first home event of the season, the German team got some bad news. First, Andreas Wellinger announced that he has to take a break from jumping for a couple of weeks due to knee problems, then Severin Freund suffered his second ACL tear this year. But nevertheless, the anticipation for the Grand Prix in Hinterzarten is high.

"We had a very good start in the Grand Prix two weeks ago with two podium results in Wisla. Now we are really looking forward to the traditional competition in Hinterzarten in front of our home crowd. We want to participate with the best possible team before we start an intensive training period after this weekend. The entire team is very motivated and we want to fight for the podium again in Hinterzarten", said head coach Werner Schuster.

Markus Eisenbichler, Richard Freitag, Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe, Andreas Wank, Tim Fuchs and Martin Hamann will compete for the German Ski Association in the Black Forest.

Karl Geiger, who achieved his second Top 3 result in a Grand Prix event two weeks ago when he was third in the season opener in Wisla (POL), now wants to repeat this strong performance in front of the home crowd. "I have been training in Oberstdorf over the last couple of days and now I'm looking forward to the home event in Hinterzarten. It's always very special to jump in front of a home crowd. I feel fit and healthy and so I'm very motivated to prove my currently good shape there."
