Austrians will train in Lillehammer
Dec 05, 2018·Ski JumpingAfter the cancellation of the World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt (GER) this weekend due to the mild temperatures and the heavy rain, the Austrian team will use the time to train in Lillehammer (NOR) for a couple of days.
Clemens Aigner, Philipp Aschenwald, Manuel Fettner, Daniel Huber, and Stefan Kraft will travel to Norway on Sunday together with head coach Andreas Felder. They plan to stay there until Thursday before traveling straight to the last World Cup before Christmas in Engelberg (SUI).
Michael Hayboeck will also join the team again for this training camp. The 27-year-old did not compete in Nizhny Tagil last weekend and has already trained in Lillehammer this week.
"It's a pity, that the competitions in Titisee-Neustadt cannot take place, but we can't change that. The chance to have some additional training sessions doesn't come at a bad time for us", explains Andreas Felder.
Schlierenzauer takes a break
Gregor Schlierenzauer will not take part in this training camp. He will not compete in the World Cup until at least the 4-Hills-Tournament and train individually with assistant coach Florian Liegl instead.
"Together with the coaches, I have decided to not compete in the upcoming World Cups. The recent competitions showed that my technique is not yet stable enough despite the good and intense training during the preparation period. With intense training in the upcoming weeks, I will try to get more confidence in order to achieve top results again. I need more than just the training and qualification jumps during a World Cup weekend to implement the new technique. It will be challenging because there are some points that I will work on. I accept this challenge", said Gregor Schierenzauer.
