Blue Bird Tour starts in Russia

Austria's Chiara Hoelzl surprisingly won the qualification for the first competition of the Ladies Blue Bird Tour in Nizhny Tagil (RUS) on Saturday. The 20-year-old from Salzburg posted a jump of 92.5 m (117.2 points) on the HS 97 in Nizhny Tagil. Norway's Maren Lundby (87.5 m; 110.0 points) and Slovenia's Ursa Bogataj (93.5 m; 109.0 points) came in second and third.

Best German was Katharina Althaus in fourth, only 0.3 points behind Bogataj. Her teammates Carina Vogt and Juliane Seyfarth didn't do that well yet on the hill in Nizhny Tagil. Carina Vogt was 16th, Juliane Seyfarth 17th.
The ladies' of Norway showed a strong team performance with Anna Odine Stroem in fifth and Silje Opseth in ninth.

Unlike in the Raw Tour Tour, the points scored in the qualification don't count for the overall ranking of the Blue Bird Tour. Only the points scored in the eight competition jumps will be added up. 
The Ladies Blue Bird Tour is held for the first time ever this season and it will also be the first time, that the Ladies' World Cup final takes place in Russia.

The Blue Bird Tour consists of four competitions (two on the HS 97 normal hill in Nizhny Tagil, one on the HS 102 normal hill in Chaikovsky and one on the HS 140 large hill in Chaikovsky). The two competitions in Nizhny Tagil are held today and tomorrow, the two events in Chaikovsky follow next weekend. The overall World Cup winner win also get the crystal globe in Chaikovsky.

The Top 6 of the Blue Bird overall ranking will be awarded an additional prize money of CHF 25 000,-.
1st: 10.000,- CHF
2nd: 7.000.- CHF
3rd: 4.000,- CHF
4th: 2.000,- CHF
5th: 1.500,- CHF
6th: 500.- CHF

Norway's Maren Lundby leads the overall World Cup with 1613 points ahead of Katharina Althaus (1258 points) and Juliane Seyfarth (1071 points).
