COC-L: First win for Katra Komar

After a disqualification after the competition prevented the victory of Katra Komar on Saturday, the Slovene showed another great performance at the Continental Cup in Brotterode (GER) on Sunday.

The 17-year-old jumped on 109.5 m and 107 m on the HS 117 hill, scored a total of 244.6 points and claimed her first win in the COC a day later. Before this weekend, the second place in Planica (SLO) in January was her best result.

Marita Kramer of Austria could repeat her second place from the first competition in Brotterode with jumps of 107 m and 108 m and 238.8 points. Germany's Pauline Hessler, who took the win in front of the home crowd yesterday, came in third this time with 105 m and 101 m and 226.2 points.

Poland's Kamila Karpiel, tied for second with Kramer on Saturday, was tenth after the first round on Sunday, but then she posted the best jump in the final round of 107.5 m and moved up to fourth overall. Agnes Reisch of German was fifth again, with Sophie Sorschag in sixth and Julia Huber in ninth, the Austrian athletes showed yet another strong team performance.

Kinga Rajda was the seventh and the second Polish athlete among the best 10, the eighth place went to Russia's Aleksandra Barantceva, Veronika Shishkina of Kazakhstan finished tenth.

With today's win, Katra Komar won the overall title of the Ladies' Continental Cup 2018/19 with her total of 246 points. Kamila Karpiel (239 points) and Elisabeth Raudaschl (201 points) follow in second and third.
