COC-M: Clemens Aigner extends his winning streak

Clemens Aigner of Austria claimed the win in the first Continental Cup competition in Brotterode (GER) on Saturday evening and could extend his winning streak in this competition series.

The 26-year-old posted the best jump in both rounds with 115.5 m and 115 m and secured the win with his total of 277.3 points. The Tyrolean won seven of the last eight COC competitions he took part in - an impressive streak.

Pawel Wasek of Poland took the second place and the first podium of his career in the Continental cup with jumps of 115.5 m and 111.5 m and 265.9 points.

Besides Clemens Aigner, another Austrian was one of the very best today. Ulrich Wohlgenannt finished third with his jumps of 114 m and 109.5 m that earned him a total of 262.3 points. Their teammate Markus Schiffner was also not far behind in sixth.

Martin Hamann was the best German in front of the home crowd in fourth, 21-year-old Keiichi Sato of Japan, twelfth after the first round, moved up in the final and achieved the best result of his career in fifth today.

Pius Paschke was seventh and the second representative of the German Ski Association in the Top 10, best Norwegian was Marius Lindvik in eighth. Aleksander Zniszczol of Poland and Slovenia's Andraz Pograjc came in ninth and tenth.

With Taku Takeuchi, Lukas Hlava and Gregor Deschwanden, three athletes with lots of World Cup experience failed to make the cut for the second round of the Top 30.

Clemens Aigner leads the overall ranking of the Continental Cup with 813 points, followed by Pius Paschke (665 points) and Robin Pedersen (606 points).

The second men's competition in Brotterode starts on Sunday at 1:30 pm CET.
